My 5 Book Recommendations For Writers.

hey everyone it’s Dan I had a blogpost drafted which was to be about five book recommendations for writers nothing in any particular order just fine books that I have around that I think could be beneficial to writers instead of writing the soda I thought I’d share with it share these in a video and upload it to YouTube so Stephen King’s on writing which I’ve had this book for well over 10 years go through it Stephen King talks about his process and aspirations and hard work he put in it teaches discipline if anything that’s one thing I certainly leading from this book was discipline and just continuing to work at it and learn as you go I’m including Leonard Cohen’s novel Beautiful Losers because it’s my absolute favorite book and I think it’s the greatest work of Canadian fiction especially just because Leonard Cohen is the reason I get into writing in the first place so if you haven’t read it I highly recommend it it’s available on Amazon Marketplace and probably many local many of your local bookstores and Amazon Marketplace has it I think I’m mass market paperback for a very little money Carol Leifer How to Succeed in Business Without Really crying lessons from a life and comedy those who might not have heard her name would suggest you look her up Carol stand-up comedian and is I think most identified with her writing on Seinfeld but as you can see I flagged this book which contains her own experiences and some things for me to go back and I’ve actually written on some of these just particular things to come back to and apply to my own process or inspiration to keep me going so Sara Menon Casso is real artists have data and other awesome things they don’t teach you in school this book was anticipated I was really highly anticipating this book and it actually blew my expectations out of the water again you can see like with Carol’s book I’ve got this plague in different places you’ve been literally opened when you’ve read this you can open to any chapter of this read it through it and come away with something for it I’ve recently come back to this and found great strength to move forward on some of the days when we just want to throw them at all throw the test on the town yes well honestly on a mini mansion and print reference manual this is the Greg reference manual six Canadian edition now I know you’re saying you can look up anything on the internet because the information is there that’s fine but if you’re gonna own one print resource manual you should I’m recommending this one just because it happened to be useful for me when I was in college and I ended up keeping it and finding things in it that were helpful so again I’ve liked the others I’ve flagged certain things so I do recommend having at least one print reference book then otherwise of course you can always go to the internet but have one that you can constantly come back to where you know something is explained to you clearly or you can when you read it you understand it clearly okay so anyway those are five recommendations of the books that I think writers should have if you have any others you’d like to suggest put them down in the comments below so thanks man i’m on twitter at writer Dan that’s writer daamn thanks

hello this is my first educational video for the internet or teach creative people how to start a business and follow the dreams ok my name is Christian West I’m a freelance writer and I wanted to start teaching other people how to be freelance writers because it’s a cool job and a lot of people want to get started and they don’t know how so I wanted to make some videos about what I’m doing and how I’m doing it yesterday I posted a thingy in one of the freelance writer Facebook groups that I’m in I posted a screenshot of a cold email that I sent in it I said that I write case studies I got a lot of really sweet comments from folks and a couple of them wanted to know what a case study is if I’m a freelance writer why should I want to write this if I’m a Content marketer why should I want to use that today I’m going to tell you a case study is basically just a story about a happy customer it details how a company solved their clients problem from start to finish like any good story it’s got exposition conflict resolution you’re with me what problem that client was having why they chose this company to help them over the competition the strategy that they use to solve that problem using the company’s product or services and lastly how much better they were after using that product or service sometimes they’re called customer success stories I honestly would go so far as to say they’re one of the most valuable content marketing tools you could possibly use they show that your business is helping real humans with real problems prospective customers can read about that and you know see the proof in the pudding actual evidence of how helpful and awesome you are the first thing we usually do before we spend money on anything is we read the reviews ray if you want to buy a lamp on Amazon you usually scroll down and you know see what other people are saying about it right you want to know if it’s made from nice materials did it break easily is it smaller than it looked in the picture you want to hear insight from other people before you choose to spend your money on the thing the more money you’re about to spend the more you care about whether or not it’s actually good that’s exactly why case studies are super helpful for business-to-business companies who are selling something really complicated or really expensive and they want to show people this is a good investment look at how it’s helped all these other people from a freelance writer perspective case studies are fantastic too right they’re fun it’s just storytelling if you know how to test spin a good story you’re gonna love writing them towards the lower end of the spectrum a case that he can pay like three to six hundred dollars medium range once you’ve got a couple in your portfolio is like thousands fifteen hundred dollars a page depending on your experience really really expensive case studies for companies that have ginormous budgets can pay like up to four thousand dollars that’s rare but it does happen so that’s the basics of what case that he is I’m gonna make another video I think about the process of creating one if you guys are interested so this is gonna be this is the beginning of a long beautiful YouTube journey by

Marquis Why Abortion is Immoral

hello I am professor Zaldivar and this is a brief discussion of Don Marquis si why abortion is immoral Marquis begins his discussion by arguing that standard arguments or standard explanations for for and against abortion are rather similar and fairly unsophisticated what he need what we need he argues is a better way to think about wrongful killing in philosophical literature it is something debated that whether wrongful killing ie murder is bad because of the effect on the murderer or because the effect on society or the effect on the victim there’s a there’s a controversy over what is it that makes murder wrong fundamentally speaking Marquis argues that what makes killing wrong is not the effect on the killer ignore the effect on surviving friends and family the victim but rather the effect on the victim more specifically being killed inflicts one of the greatest possible losses on the victim it deprives the victim of all things in life that are valuable activities projects enjoyments etc in other words what makes life valuable is our experiences in life are the things that we do in life and of course being killed robs you of the chance to have any of any of these activities or projects or enjoyments but there’s a concern here this theory explains why it might be wrong to kill a child who after all has valuable experiences but what about whether it’s wrong but what about the question of whether it’s wrong to kill a fetus we might think that the argument does not work for fetuses because fetuses don’t have fully developed Minds in fact they are not persons and so they value nothing right they’re actually incapable of valuing anything and so it looks like this argument while explaining why murder is wrong for anyone sufficiently developed enough to value experiences does not explain why abortion is wrong to address this concern Don Marquis introduces an amendment to the original statement he says so he notes some parts of my future are not valued by me right now but will come to be valued by me as I grow older and as my values and capacities change and this is a crucial point for the anti-abortion proponents being killed therefore is bad or killing is bad because being killed deprives the victim of all things in life that they value now or will come to value in the future now this more refined statement of Marquis position does in fact may explain or give a justification for why murder of a person is wrong and also for why the killing of a fetus is wrong although it does require that fetuses be the source of individuals that have futures in which they will come to value things this has a kind of odd consequence that it makes killing bad in proportion to how much future the person has it also makes killing bad in proportion to how much that person values their life or will value their future as you think about this essay you might want to consider would does this does this theory mean it’s not wrong to kill someone who does not value their life at all and that concludes our discussion of Don Marquis essay or of the highlights and main points of Don Marquis essay as always there is more to be learned from reading and there is more to be there’s more to the argument so you are encouraged and expected to read the essay before completing your work thank you for listening goodbye
